Job Description

Summary

This job involves repairing and maintaining aircraft weapons systems, ejection seats, and related safety equipment for the Navy, using technical manuals and tools to ensure everything works properly on military planes.

It's hands-on work that requires careful attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions independently.

A good fit would be someone with mechanical experience in aviation or similar technical fields, who enjoys troubleshooting and working in a structured military environment.

Key Requirements

  • Ability to perform the work without more than normal supervision (screen-out element)
  • Experience working from overhaul manuals, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and verbal instructions
  • Skill in disassembling, repairing, assembling, adjusting, and testing ordnance systems, egress gear, and ejection seats
  • Knowledge of de-arming, removing, installing, and arming ejection seats and ordnance components
  • Proficiency in using trade-specific test equipment like multimeters, micrometers, and inertia reel testers
  • Ability to conduct inventory of ordnance and airborne life support equipment on aircraft
  • Relevant paid or unpaid experience demonstrating quality knowledge and skills in trades and labor occupations

The Screen-out Element for this position is: The Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision to include: 1) Working from overhaul manuals, aircraft changes/bulletins, local directives, blueprints, wiring and/or schematic diagrams, charts, engineering instructions and other applicable written and/or verbal instructions; 2) Disassembling, repairing, assembling, adjusting and performing limited operational tests on the designation ordnance and egress gear, ejection seats, ordnance components (i.e., pylons, bomb racks, adapters, etc.) and other components as necessary; 3) Performing inventory all ordnance and airborne life support equipment on all incoming aircraft.

  • You will work from overhaul manuals, aircraft bulletins, local directives, blueprints, and other written and verbal instructions.
  • You will disassemble, repair, assemble, adjust, and perform limited operational tests on the designated ordnance and egress gear, seats, and components.
  • You will de-arm, remove, install, and arm ejection seats and ordnance systems.
  • You will use test equipment as applicable to the trade, for example; load stands, automated test equipment, multimeters, go and no-go gages, pull gages, micrometers, inertia reel testers, etc.
