This job involves working as a skilled mechanic to inspect, maintain, repair, and modify small fixed-wing airplanes used by the Department of Agriculture for plant health inspections.
The role requires hands-on work in a shop setting to keep the aircraft safe and operational.
It's a good fit for someone with proven experience in aircraft mechanics who enjoys technical troubleshooting and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
The Aircraft Mechanic serves as a journeyman fixed wing airplane mechanic responsible for performing inspections, maintenance, repairs, and/or alterations on Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) fixed wing single and light multi-engine piston powered airplane fleet in the aircraft maintenance shop at Aircraft and Equipment Operations (AEO), Mission, Texas.
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
This position has a selective factor, as a minimum qualification requirement all candidates must have completed the required training and attained their Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Certificated Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic certificate.
To qualify, you must show that you have had training and experience of sufficient scope and quality to provide you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
