Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that includes: 1) Operating certified tower display workstations to ensure proper control of air traffic; 2) Performing Tower and Airspace Information Center (AIC) Flight Following controller duties; 3) Issuing Air Traffic Control clearances and instructions to provide the required separation and sequencing of all traffic.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).
In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also be a graduate of a DoD component or FAA approved formal Air Traffic Controller school and possess Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) and/or Control Tower Operator (CTO) certification or Air Traffic Safety Oversight (AOV) certification.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-10).
