Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will be responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of a variety of commercial and industrial refrigeration and air conditioning units and systems, and mechanical ventilation systems.
  • You will use shop math in calculations and layout.
  • You will read blueprints, plans, and manuals for equipment to be repaired.
  • You will modify and balance elements of the systems to meet temperatures and humidity requirements which vary considerably in different areas and include sensitive equipment with critical operation temperatures and humidity.
  • You will diagnose trouble by analyzing malfunctions in equipment by means of pressure gauges, temperature probes, leak detectors, multi-meters, amp-meters, ohm-meters and instruments for locating defects in complex electrical systems and controls.
  • You will install, maintain, and repairs commercial and domestic refrigeration equipment such as walk-in refrigerators and freezers.
