You will serve as a Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic in the Public Works Department in the of NAV FACILITIES ENGINEERING COMMAND SE.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to perform the work of an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision as demonstrated by1) Able to accomplish work in accordance with instructions; knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
2) Ability to read and follow diagram.3) capable of lifting, carrying, and handling equipment up to 40 lbs. unassisted, over 40 lbs assisted.
4) Capable of working in both inside and outside conditions 5) valid driver's license6) capable of working independently.

The work requires frequent carrying and setting-up of parts and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Occasionally may lift items weighing over 50 pounds with assistance.
Hoists, holders, and pulleys are operated when removing units such as large compressors, condensers, and chillers.
The work requires making repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding and platforms where the parts of systems worked on are frequently in hard-to-reach places; therefore, stooping, stretching, bending, and kneeling are frequent and may be for long periods of time.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
WORKING CONDITIONS The incumbent works both inside and outside, sometimes in bad weather, on top of tall buildings, in drafty attic spaces, and in cramped areas with low overheads.
Areas are noisy, dirty, dusty and greasy. Personal protective equipment such as protective clothing, helmets, goggles, respirators, etc.
are required to be worn when there is a possibility of exposure to toxic refrigerants during regular maintenance and repair or when making emergency repairs.
Working conditions are considered in the evaluation of the job and do not meet criteria for compensation by environmental or hazard pay.
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
