This job involves leading engineering efforts for military aircraft weapon systems, focusing on how weapons safely detach and fly away during missions, using computer simulations, wind tunnel tests, and real flights to ensure everything works right.
It also includes managing projects to stay on budget and schedule while coordinating with teams inside and outside the Navy.
A good fit would be an experienced aerospace engineer who enjoys technical problem-solving, teamwork, and leading defense projects.
This position will function as both an Aeropace Engineer and a Senior Store Separation Team Lead in the Air Systems Group, Air Vehicle Engineering Department, and Aeromechanics Division of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.
In addition to meeting BASIC REQUIREMENTS for this Aerospace Engineer DP-0861-05 position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the STRL DP-04 Pay Band or equivalent GS Grade Level (GS-12/13) in the Federal Service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Examples of specialized experience includes: (1) Coordinating engineering activities related to store separation, research, development, acquisition, and in-service support through the development and application of the most advanced methods for six degree-of-freedom (6DOF) store trajectory prediction, simulation modeling, wind tunnel testing, and flight testing for assigned air weapon systems; (2) Functioning as a liaison with internal and external contacts to ensure assigned program needs are addressed and program goals are met; and (3) Providing project/program management to meet cost, schedule, and performance requirements for assigned air weapon systems.
