The Department of Corrections is seeking a dedicated and passionate Adult Basic Education Teacher to join our team at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Frackville.

In this position, you will provide foundational education to adult offenders in subjects such as math, reading, English, and social studies.
You will develop detailed lesson plans outlining instructional content, learning activities, sequencing, required materials, and performance standards.
Responsibilities include designing assessment methods, evaluating results to determine each inmate’s abilities and learning readiness, and adapting instruction accordingly.
In addition, you will create and administer quizzes, tests, and practice exercises to guide study efforts and measure individual progress and achievement.

This position is assigned to an institution that houses state mandated school-age students and requires a valid and active Instructional 1 or 2 certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
When no candidates possess the named certifications, the selected candidate must be eligible for an Emergency Permit issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Education that is appropriate to the position.
