This job involves providing administrative support in a naval shipyard, handling tasks like managing mail, preparing reports, processing timekeeping and travel, and assisting with budgets and data analysis for department leadership.
It's ideal for someone organized and detail-oriented with experience in office work, who can communicate effectively and work independently in a structured government environment.
A good fit would be an individual comfortable with security protocols and using computer systems for routine office duties.
You will serve as an Administrative Support Assistant (OA) in the Administrative/Technical Support Staff (130S), Quality Assurance Department (130) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience performing timekeeping duties and processing travel requests.
Experience utilizing office automation systems to perform word processing duties and prepare narratives, charts, graphs, and handouts for briefings and presentations.
Experience effectively communicating both orally and in writing and exercising sound judgement in the accurate exposition of facts, to resolve complex problems and make appropriate recommendations to management.
Experience composing correspondence and reports observing the appropriate correspondence formats, forms, routing, and usual terminology, broad knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Experience using tact and diplomacy in dealing with the various levels of department and shipyard managers/supervisors and employees.
Experience working independently, accepting responsibility, being resourceful and exercising sound judgement.
Experience applying Security regulations to include the handling of classified information, safe/security program, etc.
