Full Job Description

Under general supervision, performs full-performance accounting support duties. This position will process Accounts Payable transactions within the Fiscal Department of the Division of Administrative Services that provides fiscal, human resources, payroll, fixed assets, and purchasing services for several divisions within the Department of Homeland Security. This consists of a budget of roughly $350 million (currently, but will expand continuously as more agencies are serviced) in expenditures and payables. This position is responsible for ensuring payments are processed timely, efficiently, and accurately to accounts, while following strict adherence to the WV State Code. Performs account balancing while classifying or coding payables under multiple funding sources; verifies invoices for accuracy; assists with staff training; gathers data and prepares detailed worksheets to assist with monthly reporting deadlines. This position will oversee the invoices, bill pay and other duties. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Training: Graduation from a standard four-year high school or the equivalent.

Experience: Three years of full time or equivalent part time paid bookkeeping, accounting or related experience.
Substitution: Successful completion of college-level accounting courses from an regionally accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of three semester hours equals six months experience;
OR
Successful completion of related business school or vocational training may be substituted for the experience through an established formula.
