Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as an accountant for the U.S.

Pacific Fleet in the Navy, where you'll handle financial data, fix accounting issues, and help ensure the organization's money matters are in order.

You'll analyze reports, advise on updates to accounting rules, and suggest ways to make processes smoother and more accurate.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Applying professional accounting principles, theories, and practices by performing financial analysis, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial reports to ensure the financial readiness of an organization.

Examples of specialized experience may include interpreting and implementing accounting policies, identifying discrepancies, and recommending corrective actions of financial data.

  • You will operate and analyze accounting systems in order to interpret accounting data, records, and reports.
  • You will advise on changing accounting requirements and the need for new accounting reports to satisfy changing requirements and new procedural instructions to meet new or changing accounting requirements.
  • You will Recommend ways to improve coordination and clarify procedures; reduce errors, processing delays and duplications of effort.
  • You will resolve problems and make recommendations to improve customer service provided from the Accounting Section to staffs, tenants, and Defense Finance Accounting Service.
  • You will assist management on accounting financial management matters, prescribes accounting standards, policies, and requirements.
  • You will review automated reports and listings to verify that the accounting data is valid.
  • You will ensure that all changes initiated by various data systems/requirements are implemented as scheduled and the resulting data affecting accounting reports is accurate and timely.
  • You will identify erroneous conditions and take corrective action to bring records back in balance.
