This role involves leading a team of nurses on the night shift at a state facility that supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, ensuring high-quality care and compliance with health regulations.
The supervisor plans, organizes, and evaluates nursing activities while mentoring staff and maintaining schedules.
It's ideal for an experienced nurse who enjoys leadership, team building, and making a positive impact on vulnerable communities.
Supervises and mentors nursing staff on assigned shift so that the mission, goals, philosophy, and functions of the nursing department are supported and can be achieved.
Provides direct oversight to Registered Nurses (RN) on assigned shifts who in turn, provides direct oversight to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) in their assigned area.
Evaluates subordinate nursing staff and serves as a reviewer for evaluation. In consultation with Human Resources, follows proper procedures for conducting disciplinary action as needed.
Stays abreast of new nursing trends and/or research with possible application towards improving the health care of individuals.
Provides for and participates in educational enrichment programs so that personnel are up to date with new concepts and approaches in the delivery of services to individuals.

Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General “List of Excluded Individuals/Entities” screening; South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles Driving Record check; and a review of transcripts verifying educational credentials.

All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.
State Disaster Plan: In accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, employees of The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
