The Office of the Director of National Intelligence, or ODNI, is an independent federal agency, not part of a cabinet department. Its purpose is to give the nation's senior leaders the intelligence they need to make decisions. The United States has 18 intelligence agencies, including the Central Intelligence Agency and the Office of Naval Intelligence, and ODNI works to connect them and build trust among them.
Because the office's job is integration across those agencies, much of the work involves analysis, coordination, policy and oversight. It is headed by the Director of National Intelligence.
Hiring covers intelligence analysts along with support occupations such as information technology, cybersecurity, legal work, budget and finance, human resources, and security. Positions require a security clearance, so candidates go through a background investigation before starting.
