About Pacific Air Forces

Pacific Air Forces is a major command of the Department of the Air Force, with responsibility for Air Force operations in the Pacific region. Besides its operational units, it supports installation programs for the people assigned to its bases.

Some of its civilian openings are in Air Force Services, which are paid from non-appropriated funds rather than from regular appropriations. The 354th Force Support Squadron is one example. It runs services, programs and activities for Airmen, their families, civilian workers and retirees in the Eielson community, and its staff includes military members, civilian employees, contractors and volunteers.

Eielson Air Force Base is in the Fairbanks North Star Borough in Alaska. The city of North Pole is about 15 minutes from the base, and Fairbanks is about a 30 minute drive. Summer days are long, and winters are snowy with views of the aurora borealis.
