About the U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command

The U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command is part of the Department of the Army and operates under Army Materiel Command. It manages conventional ammunition for the Army and the other military services, covering production, storage, shipment, and the disposal of munitions that are no longer needed.

The command oversees a network of government ammunition plants, depots, and storage sites, and works with the contractors that run much of that production. Its work centers on keeping ammunition stocks available where units need them and on handling explosives safely at every stage.

Hiring tends to fall in logistics and supply chain management, industrial and mechanical engineering, quality assurance, explosives and ammunition safety, contracting, and production and inventory planning. Supporting roles in finance, human resources, and information technology also appear. Many positions are based at Rock Island Arsenal in Illinois, with others at ammunition plants and depots in other parts of the country.
